There's a section in my bullet journal titled 'Personal Goals'. I normally approach writing these things out in intricate detail, but then I find that this stifles my creativity and I actually end up feeling restricted in achieving these goals throughout the year.
This year I took it from a different angle and briefly wrote out what it is I would like to accomplish or develop for 2016. By going about it this way, I think that it broadens my opportunity to steer the goal in whichever direction I think it should go when it comes time to work on that goal. Make sense? I hope it will work. I think it will work. I'll just have to see I guess!
That's the great things with bullet journals, I can customise them to suite my needs and my brain; that may look completely different to your bullet journal, but that just it, it's supposed to be individual. I'm hooked. I was driving into town to go to Aldi yesterday and I had this instant compulsion to buy washi tape. I know you've had that before too, so I'm not sharing with people who will see me as being crazy! The urge won, and I found myself somehow parked outside my local scrap booking shop, scavenging through a basket of washi tape in delighted school-girl bliss. I found four perfect for my bullet journal, one with the days of the week on it.
This is what my 'personal goals' page looks like now ...
This was a much more relaxed approach for me and I really like that I can look at it from a glance and see that I'm already doing some of the things that are written here! It's nice not having a rigid check-list for these things.
Also, yesterday before the washi tape expedition, I purchased second hand a new little object that I'm so excited to share with you all! ...
It's a vintage 'Tippa' typewriter! Apparently the colour is 'Canary' ... beautiful!
I am so ridiculously excited to be using this!!
The photos above and below are just of some random writing that I did to practise using my new little love. I may use them in a story, I may not. It was very enjoyable to be so unrestricted in my writing though, without the distraction of a bright screen and electronics. Besides, anything vintage is just perfect in my books!
I really look forward to using my typewriter and bullet journal throughout the year! I've actually shared with my oldest daughter the tab section of my journal, and she is in the process of setting up a journal for herself too! We are both very excited!
I hope you're having a beautiful week friends!
P.S. I ended up naming my new room, 'My Cozy Place' ... just in case you were wondering, thanks everyone for your name suggestions!

I have just started using a bullet journal and I love it! I cannot imagine going to anything different now. I enjoy the freedom and the creativity required. It is perfectly me!

Yes, they are fantastic and incredibly addictive! I couldn't use anything else now either. I really like my typewriter too ;)
DeleteThanks for visiting here Sarah!
Cute typewriter. I grew up in high school and then work on an old typewriter and remember the day I got an electric one. My how times have changed. I never saw, though a canary one.
ReplyDeleteThanks Deborah, I agree ... it's pretty cute! I was surprised when I bought this one as I was expecting an electric one too, but I'm so glad it's not! Blessings.
DeleteI love your bullet journal. My planner is starting to look a little bullet like because I like to jot down random things... What a pretty little typewriter. We have a green one similar that my girls love. I guess a craving for washi tape is better than doughnuts or ice cream :)
ReplyDeleteYou are so right ... washi tape cravings are much better for my waste line! My children enjoy using mine too, it's a great skill for our kids to learn! I like how journals/planners start in one format, then morph into something else entirely! Have a great week!
DeleteOoooh, your typewriter is absolutely delightful! What a joy, Elisha :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I must say your journal is oh-so-sweet! Thanks for the inspiration and thank you for sharing with Roses of Inspiration. Hugs!
Thank you Stephanie, it really is lovely to use! Blessings to you.
DeleteI've just started using a Bullet Journal this year too. I LOVE your personal goals - that's a very cool way to write them all down. I spent some time looking at washi tape today too... still haven't made that plunge for my journal yet!
ReplyDeleteThanks Tonia, I hope you really enjoy using yours for the year. Warning: once you take the washi tape plunge, there's NO turning back! Thanks for visiting!
DeleteMy Dad still does all his work on an old typewriter

I don't think they'll ever loose their charm Molly :)
DeleteElisha...Your bullet journal is wonderful and so personalized. That's what makes bullet journals so awesome. Thank you for sharing yours at Monday's Musings. Oh, and your typewriter is so cool. :-)
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome Naomi, I'm glad you liked it! Yes, they are great for personalizing. I think my typewriter is pretty cool too :)
DeleteI am in love with your typewriter - it works & it's YELLOW. How fun!
ReplyDeleteWhen I was working, I was forever writing in my journals, but I just don't take the time any more. Maybe I should start again.
Thanks for Sharing Your Cup and have fun with the Tippa.
I really hope you start journaling again, it's such a lovely part of life that helps us express ourselves in so many ways. I am definitely having fun with my Tippa! Thanks!
DeleteLove writing on journals! Hubs and I were just talking about the good ole typewriters that we had when we were in school. Thank you for sharing this inspiring and encouraging post over at Bloggers Spotlight Linky Party, hope to see you again! Pinned!
